This book took me forever to read. I thought I liked mysteries but since reading this I have decided I do not necessarily. Great Detectives was 97% murders and after one or two of those stories I was sick of the morbid look at life most of these authors had.4/5.
The Body Vanished is a British film where a vacationing Scotland Yard detective inspector and his reporter chum stumble across a mystery at a country house where the butler discovers a body, which then disappears.
I was able to watch this film for free on Amazon Prime. It’s a fun comedy mystery and seems to be a Quota Quickie, which adds up to the equivalent of an. This book is for those of us who love the Great Detectives of the past. The author uses the device of interviewing the detectives or their sidekicks and then throws in, for good measure, a pastiche of the writer.
He does an excellent job. If you enjoy Golden Age detectives this is the book for you. I just wish there had been a volume two/5. Billy Jensen’s book, Chase Darkness with Me is part memoir and part how-to guide for wannabe twenty-first century citizen detectives who want to join Jensen in finding missing persons and helping to solve America’s more thanunsolved homicide.
